2011 West Coast League Attendance Jumps

PORTLAND, OREGON - November 8, 2011 - A dramatic spike in attendance highlighted the West Coast League's 2011 season. For the seventh consecutive year, the WCL significantly grew its fan base, as league attendance increased by 29% over 2010.

League attendance reached 274,991, with the Bend Elks topping the WCL with home attendance of 50,513 for league games, a new high. The Elks set new attendance levels across the board, including overall attendance of 63,189 and averaging 1,820 per game for league games.

The average per game attendance for league contests reached 1,113, an increase of 15% over 2010.

Six clubs surpassed the league per game average.

Overall attendance for the league's nine clubs jumped by 25%, moving over 300,000 for the first time at 330,525.

The expansion Klamath Falls Gems drew the largest crowd in West Coast League history, 4,156.

The 2012 West Coast League season opens June 1st. Each team will play 54-games and the 2012 All-Star Game will be played July 24th at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla.

The best-of-three 2012 Division Play-Offs begin August 11th, while the best-of-three 2012 Championship Series will open August 15th at the home of the West Division Play-Off Champion.

The West Coast League is The Diamond Standard of summer wood-bat collegiate baseball. Based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, the league is a developing ground for aspiring pros and provides an affordable, wholesome, family-oriented entertainment alternative for its member communities. The nine-team league extends from Kelowna, British Columbia to Klamath Falls, Oregon.
