OPENING NIGHT
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight the Cyclones will wrap up their season opening five-game road trip as they play the first of a weekend home and home series against their newest rival - the Chicago Express. Tonight's game is the first of 16 regular season meetings between these two clubs, which is the most of any opponent Cincinnati will face this season.
SCOUTING THE EXPRESS: Steve Martinson's club has the top team defense in the ECHL, surrendering just nine goals in their first five games. Chicago is led offensively by second-year forward Blair Riley, who is tied for 9th in the ECHL with 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists). The Express are solid between the pipes as well - with both goaltenders ranking in the ECHL's top ten. Paul Dainton posted a 27-save shutout in his only appearance of the season while third-year backstop Rob Nolan has earned Chicago's other two wins and owns a 2.28 goals-against average.
Shots, Shots, Shots: Through the first four games of the regular season, Cincinnati has outshot its opponents by a combined total of 146-124. The Cyclones average of 36.5 shots per-game ranks second in all of the ECHL. In fact, the have posted at least 35 shots in their last three games.
Everyday I'm Shuffling: The Cyclones roster has gone through a mini-overhaul this week as several players were called up to the AHL. Joe Devin, Keith Seabrook, and Garrett Wilson were all summoned to San Antonio while forward Ben Ryan was recalled to Milwaukee. In addition, Cincinnati was assigned center man Joel Champagne from the Admirals and goaltender Tyler Plante along with forwards A.J. Jenks and Jonathan Hazen from San Antonio.
Movember Pride: Movember kicks off its 5th annual world-wide campaign in the US, challenging men across the country to show their support by growing a Mo (slang for moustache) this November. Cyclones players, coaches, and staff have started a Movember "team" and are encouraging fans to compete with each other & show support for the initiative. Fans will have an opportunity to show off their own staches on Wednesday, November 23 at U.S. Bank Arena. The Cincinnati Cyclones first $1 Beer night of the season will double as a "Movember Party"
