Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Southaven, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings suffered their second straight loss in as many nights tonight at the Desoto Civic Center, this time at the hands of the Columbus Cottonmouths by a score of 4-3.

The RiverKings squandered a 3-0 lead after the first period, and for the second consecutive contest, gave up at least three unanswered goals, on a night that looked extremely promising for the home town team during this year's 'Pink at the Rink' game in front of 2,519 fans.

Kyle Lundale got the RiverKings on the board first at 9:48 of the first period with the assists coming from team Captain Darrell Stoddard, and Assistant Captain Robert Sich. Lundale received the feed right off of the faceoff at the blue line and rifled a shot over the shoulder of Ian Vigier that hit off the cross bar and bounced over the goal line for the first tally of the game.

Paul D'Agostino soon followed only 25 seconds later off the faceoff from Mark Magnowski. It had shades of Kyle Lundale's goal, as the score came right off the faceoff from a shot at the point. Magnowski made it a two point night for himself, registering a powerplay goal at 11:48 of the first period, with the helpers going to Kyle Lundale and Mike Tuomi.

The second and third periods however was all Columbus, as Jordan Braid got the Snakes on the board at 10:09 of the middle frame, a powerplay goal from Levi Lind and Tom Maldonado. Mitch Wall scored an unassisted goal less than three minutes later to bring the Cottonmouths within one heading into the third period.

John Sullivan tied it at 8:27 of the third after the pass by Bret Tyler and with just 1:25 remaining in the game, Tom Maldonado and Andrew Krelove set up Levi Lind right in front of the RiverKings goal and Lind made no mistake, scoring the eventual game winning goal and the fourth unanswered goal in the game by Columbus, bringing them all the way back from the three goal deficit.

Alan Reynolds got his first start in a RiverKings uniform, facing 19 shots tonight and coming up with 15 saves. Goaltender Ian Vigier held tough for Columbus after a shaky start, and finished with 27 saves on 30 shots despite giving up three goals on 17 shots in the first period.
