Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Another member of the Dubuque Fighting Saints has decided where his hockey career will continue. Tyler Lundey, who is an alternate captain for the defending Clark Cup champions, will head to Columbus next season to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Lundey contributed 8 goals and 23 points during the 2010-11 regular season, and scored a pair of crucial goals in Games 3 and 4 of the Clark Cup Final. This season, Lundey has a goal and two assists in three games, to go along with a +2 rating.

Ohio State will spend its final year in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) during Lundey's freshman year, and will then move into the recently announced Big Ten Hockey Conference, along with the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Penn State University, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin - a school that will be an immediately familiar rival for the Middleton, Wisconsin, native.

Fighting Saints Head Coach Jim Montgomery complimented Lundey's team-first attitude while at the same time recognizing his personal success.

"I'm really happy for Tyler to be able to achieve his goal of playing division one hockey at an elite program," he said. "He has worked extremely hard on and off the ice to prepare himself to excel as a freshman."

Lundey's decision means that eleven Fighting Saints have made college commitments, with more expected as the season progresses. The USHL had over 250 player commitments to division one schools last season.

Lundey and the Fighting Saints will return to the ice on Friday against the rival Waterloo Black Hawks at home in Dubuque. It is the Pink the Rink game, presented by Finley Hospital, in support of the battle against breast cancer.
