Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors will hold their annual Open House and Family Day on Saturday, Oct. 1 from Noon-2:30 p.m. at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center, located at 1325 Q Street.
Fans will get a chance to see the 2011-12 Condors for the first time as they prepare for the upcoming season. The event kicks off with a Condors scrimmage from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Following the game, fans can hit the ice with the Condors and skate with the team. Everyone is welcome to participate with skate rentals available for $3 dollars. A limited number of skate rentals are available, so those who own their own pair of blades are encouraged to bring them. The skate will last until 2:30 p.m.
"We're very excited for this year's Open House," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "We have a new coaching staff and many new players this season. It's a tremendous way for our great fans in Condorstown to get to know the team and it's a perfect way to kick off the 2011-12 season."
Season ticket holders who have paid in full or are current on their payment plans will be able to pick up their season ticket books at the event. The Condors will also have the popular Slap Shot booth there plus mascots Colonel Claw'd, Baby Cal, and Slapshot will be hanging out. Fans who qualify for the Season Ticket Holder Gift will be able to pick those up at a later date.
The event is open to the public, and admission is free with the donation of two non-perishable food items. The Condors have donated nearly 10 tons of food at the Open House over the previous seasons. All food will be donated to the Kern County Food Bank.
