Bloomington Blaze Sign Forward Mike Zbriger

The Bloomington Blaze presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union today announced the signing of forward Mike Zbriger to the team's pre-season roster. Zbriger, 29, is a native of Montreal, Quebec who has played five years professionally following a four year college career at St. Lawrence University.

The 5'-10", 178 lbs forward played in Bloomington for the former PrairieThunder during the 2006-07 season, scoring 17 goals and adding 21 assists for 38 points in 44 games. "I'm looking forward to coming back to Bloomington where I really enjoyed myself and made a number of friends," said Mike Zbriger. "Some of my fondest memories of playing professionally were in Bloomington."

Zbriger's career also includes playing for the Chicago Hounds, Flint Generals, Weiden (Germany), Corpus Christi Icerays, Wichita Thunder, and Quad City Mallards. Last year, Mike played in France for Montpellier where he scored 21 goals and 23 assists for 44 points in 26 games.

Bloomington Blaze to participate in Bloomington's Labor Day Parade

Join the Bloomington Blaze staff along with goaltender Marco Emond as the organization participates in this year's Bloomington Labor Day Parade. The team will be represented in our new official team vehicle, provided by Lynn Chevrolet-Buick of Pontiac. The parade begins at 10am on Labor Day Monday at Front and Center Streets in downtown Bloomington and proceeds to Miller Park. The Blaze will be handing out 2011-12 home game schedules.

Blazing Notes

The Blaze organization was represented at last night's March of Dimes fundraiser at the Marriott in downtown Normal. Blaze player Jon Booras and general manager Jim Riggs served as celebrity spotters during the evening's live auction.

The new Bloomington Blaze presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union will be playing in the fourteen team Central Hockey League beginning in October, 2011. Bloomington will be in the league's Turner (Northern) Conference along with the Fort Wayne Komets, Dayton Gems, Quad City Mallards, Missouri Mavericks, Rapid City Rush, and Evansville IceMen.
