Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA - Inland Empire 66ers starting pitcher Ariel Pena will be taking his talents to Salt Lake City for his AAA debut tonight for the Bees. In a counter mover, pitcher Kyle Hurst has been activated from the disabled list.

Pena led the California League with 180 strikeouts in 2011 prior to his call up. His 4.45 ERA was the best among Inland Empire starters and he was second on the squad with 10 wins. It will be Pena's first trip to AAA in the 22 year-old's five year pro career.

Kyle Hurst returns to the active roster after more than a month on the disabled list with right shoulder impingement. He had been a starter previously with Inland Empire but is expected to join the bullpen for the final week of the regular season. Hurst has a 6-5 record this season with a 4.84 ERA. He is four strikeouts away from 200 in his professional career.

The Inland Empire 66ers have a four game homestand to wrap the 2011 regular season. The series starts Friday at Arrowhead Credit Union Park as Inland Empire hosts the Stockton Ports. On Saturday, September 3rd, Inland Empire will host a Heroes Night, featuring a postgame fireworks extravaganza. Tickets are on sale now both at the 66ers box office and online at www.66ers.com. Playoff ticket information is also available at the 66ers box office. For more information on the Inland Empire 66ers please contact Sam Farber, Director of Broadcasting, at 909-495-7632.
