Dayan Viciedo Elected to I.L. Post-Season All-Star Team

August 30, 2011 - International League (IL) Charlotte Knights

FORT MILL, S.C. - Former Charlotte Knights outfielder Dayan Viciedo has been elected to the 2011 International League Post-Season All-Star Team. Viciedo was called up to the major leagues by the Chicago White Sox this past weekend.

The 22-year-old from Cuba had one of the most successful seasons in Knights franchise history. He was a mid-season IL All-Star and also was named to the World Team in the MLB Futures Game. Viciedo owns a .296 average and 20 home runs to go along with 78 RBI (5th in IL) and 134 hits (6th in IL).

Viciedo was named the International League Player of the Month for the month of May in which he hit .349 (38-109) with six home runs and 27 RBI. He hit 20 home runs in both the 2010 and 2011 seasons for Charlotte, becoming the first Knights player since 1998 to have consecutive 20 home run seasons.

Viciedo has played in two games for the White Sox this season going 4-6 (.667) with one home run and four RBI.
