RedHawks Look for Series Win-- The Oklahoma City RedHawks continue a nine-game stretch against the Iowa Cubs with a 12:05 p.m. CT start in the final game of a four-game series at Principal Park...The RedHawks are 6-4 against the Iowa Cubs in 2011, including a 3-4 record at Principal Park...Following the four-game series in Des Moines, the RedHawks and Cubs shift back to RedHawks Field at Bricktown for a five-game series starting Wednesday...The RedHawks are looking for back-to-back series wins for the first time in 2011, as they come off a 3-1 series win over Reno...OKC has improved in the second half, posting to a 30-28 record, including a 21-18 record since the All-Star Break...Oklahoma City enter Tuesday in fourth place in the American Southern division, 18.0 games behind first place Round Rock...The Iowa Cubs are fourth place in the Pacific Northern Division, 12.5 games behind first place Omaha...
Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- RedHawks starter Andy Van Hekken (32G, 16GS, 7-5, 3.08, 41BB, 104SO) makes his 17th consecutive start this afternoon...Van Hekken enters the start with the second-best ERA in the Pacific Coast League (3.08), trailing only Omaha's Luis Mendoza (2.18)...In two starts against Iowa, Van Hekken is 2-0 wiht a 0.69 ERA (1ER/13.0IP)...Alberto Cabrera (16G, 14GS, 2-4, 6.69, 47BB, 55SO) makes the start for the Iowa Cubs...Cabrera gave up three earned runs in 5.2 innings without a decision against OKC on July 5 at RedHawks Field at Bricktown...
Last Game: August 22 - Iowa Cubs 4, Oklahoma City RedHawks 0-- Austin Bibens-Dirkx and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout and led the Iowa Cubs to a 4-0 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks before 6,675 Monday night at Principal Park...Bibens-Dirkx allowed four hits over seven shutout innings for a winning decision...Lucas Harrell allowed one run and four hits in seven innings in a tough-luck loss...The Cubs opened the scoring in the first inning when Brett Jackson doubled, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a Scott Moore single...Iowa added three runs in the eighth inning on an RBI single from Jackson and a two-run throwing error by RedHawks shortstop Anderson Hernandez...
Hernandez Streak Continues-- Anderson Hernandez increased his hitting streak to 20 games with a first inning single and finished 2-for-4 last night...The hits continued Oklahoma City's longest hitting streak in 2011...11 of the 20 games have been multi-hit games, and Hernandez has posted a .414 (36x87) average during the streak...Reno's Tony Abreu hit safely in 24 straight games June 4-July 6, the longest streak in the PCL in 2011...The PCL record for consecutive games batted safely in a single season is 61 by Joe DiMaggio of San Francisco May 28-July 25, 1933...
RedHawks Additions- P Jeff Fulchino has been optioned to OKC from Houston, marking his second stint with the RedHawks...The Houston Astros have released P Douglas Arguello...
Wallace, Johnson Since Option-- Brett Wallace was 1x3 yesterday, falling to .353 (24x68) with 13 RBI with Oklahoma City over 19 games...Six of the 24 hits are for extra bases from Wallace, all six doubles...Chris Johnson was 1x4 last night, falling to .277 (13x47) with one home run and eight RBI with Oklahoma City...
Hit Me You Can't Hurt Me-- RedHawks catcher J.R. Towles has collected 11 hit-by-pitches in 30 games with Oklahoma City, the team high for 2011...The PCL high for hit-by-pitches is 16 by Joe Thurston of New Orleans...Thurston has played in 114 games with the Zephyrs...
Shutouts-- The RedHawks and Cubs have played back-to-back shutouts, with the RedHawks taking a 4-0 win on Sunday afternoon and the Cubs turning it around for a 4-0 win last night...The RedHawks are 4-6 in shutouts while the Cubs hold a 3-6 record...
Double Play Defense-- The Oklahoma City RedHawks lead the Pacific Coast League lead with 158 double plays...The next-closest team is Salt Lake with 154 double plays...Iowa is last in the PCL with 100 twin-killings...
