Wichita 5, Sioux City 3
The Explorers registered five hits and scored three runs to tie the score in the seventh inning against Wichita on Friday. Those five hits, however, were all but one of their nine-inning total, and the Wingnuts took a 5-3 win. Wichita led from the get-go, as 1B Jorge Delgado singled in a run in the first before Sioux City had taken a single at-bat. And though the seventh inning barrage tied the score, Wichita quickly went back on top with a run in both the eighth and ninth innings. Delgado went 2-for-4 on the night with two RBI, while his teammate Juan Richardson went a perfect 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
Winnipeg 6, St. Paul 5
St. Paul spent the early and middle innings climbing out of a 3-0 hold to take a 5-3 lead. But the Goldeyes answered back with their second three-run inning of the game in the seventh to take a 6-5 win. Winnipeg C Luis Alen led all players with three hits while scoring once and batting in a run. Alen's RBI was one of three for Winnipeg in the first inning that gave the club its early lead. He also scored the tying run in the seventh. Saints CF Jonathan Van Every went 2-for-3 with two runs and a game-high three RBI to lead the nearly successful St. Paul comeback.
Sioux Falls 7, Fargo-Moorhead 6 (10 innings)
The Pheasants took advantage of a couple Fargo-Moorhead mistakes in the 10th inning, scoring the go-ahead run without a hit to their credit. The winning run came on a Kevin Carby at-bat via an error that would have been the inning-ending out. The RedHawks nearly tied the score thanks to some miscues by Sioux Falls in the bottom of the frame. A single, a walk and a balk put the go-ahead run in scoring position before reliever Aaron Cotter forced Fargo-Moorhead's Kole Zimmerman into a groundout to end the game. Cotter earned the save while his bullpen mate Dan McDaniel picked up his third win of the year after pitching a perfect ninth.
Kansas City 6, Gary SouthShore 4
The RailCats took a brief lead in the fifth inning after plating three runs. But consistent production - six one-run innings - earned the win for the T-Bones. Kansas City CF Keanon Simon doubled in the go-ahead run in the eighth to highlight his 3-for-3 night. Simon also scored three runs for Kansas City. Kansas City reliever Drew Graham took over for starter Devin Anderson with one out in the fifth and earned the win, tossing two and two-thirds innings of one-hit ball with a walk and a strikeout.
Grand Prairie 8, Lincoln 6
AirHogs 2B David Espinosa gave his club some breathing room in the seventh, doubling in Danny Figueroa and Stephen Douglas to put Grand Prairie on top, 6-3. Espinosa's club led the rest of the way. Douglas tied for the game high in hits, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Douglas was joined in the three-hit club by teammate Guillermo Martinez and Saltdogs batters Gavin Dickey and Rafael Alvarez. The Saltdogs gained a 3-2 advantage on a fifth-inning Alvarez single. But the seventh brought the AirHogs offense and propelled Grand Prairie to the win.
El Paso 12, Fort Worth 7 (In progress - Bottom 8)
In the bottom of the eighth inning, El Paso leads Fort Worth, 12-7.
Amarillo at Shreveport-Bossier (Postponed)
The game between Amarillo and Shreveport-Bossier has been postponed and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 6:00 PM.
