CARSON, CA. (Tuesday, August 2, 2011) - The 2011 Generation Adidas Cup is took place last week July 25 through July 31st at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. It consisted of two tournaments for youth teams of MLS clubs. The U17 tournament included teams from 16 MLS clubs, while the U15 tournament included teams from 8 MLS clubs.

Throughout tournament play both Chivas USA's youth teams in the U17 and U15 categories made a stellar run at the cup, and once again showcased their play and performance. From the beginning of tournament play and through the final the U15's were determined to take the cup falling just short of that effort with a 2-3 loss against the squad from the New York Red Bulls in Frisco, TX, this past weekend. After taking an early lead in the first half Edgar Gonzalez scored a dipping volley assisted by GK Bryan Gomez. In the second half Hugo Gutierrez scored the equalizer; unfortunately the Red Bulls would break their hearts by scoring the winning goal just two minutes before the final whistle.

In the meantime the U17 overcame their devastating defeat in the semis vs. the LA Galaxy team by beating rival DC United 6-0. The Goats star of the tournament Kevin de la Torre once again showcased his prowess and added an additional 4 goals to bring his total to 9 goals in 5 games and earned him the coveted Golden Boot trophy for the 2011 Cup. Pedro Velasquez and Mario Ortiz added the other 2 goals as Christian Carrillo assisted on 4 of the 6 goals.

With these results, the proud young Red and Whites assured themselves an excellent showing in the 2011 Generation Adidas Cup bringing home a second and third place. Congratulations boys!
