Union return to MLS play vs. Colorado Rapids at PPL Park

Chester, Pa. (July 25, 2011) - Atop of the Eastern Conference Philadelphia Union (8-4-7, 31 points) return to Major League Soccer action this week when they receive the Colorado Rapids (7-6-10, 31 points) at PPL Park on Friday, July 29 at 7:30 p.m. EST. The match will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer and Fox Soccer en Español. Union goalkeeper and Captain Faryd Mondragon will be participating in the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star game versus the English Premier League's Manchester United on Wednesday, July 27, at 9:00 p.m. EST at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. The midseason showcase will be broadcast live on ESPN2, Galavision and TSN at 8:30 p.m. EST.

Last week the Union treated their fans to two international matches, as the club defeated English Premier League team Everton, 1-0, at PPL Park on Wednesday, July 20 and fell 2-1 to Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid C.F. just three days later in front of a 57,305 crowd at Lincoln Financial Field. The victory put Real Madrid atop the leaderboard in the 2011 Herbalife World Football Challenge.

Colorado come to Philadelphia after earning a 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution on Saturday, July 23. The Rapids and the Union, both 31 points in their respected tables, already played to a 1-1 draw at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on June 4, 2011 this MLS season. Danny Mwanga netted the equalizer three minutes after Casey Keller converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
