Green Bay Rockers News Release

Frogville, WI - June 27th, 2011 - The Bullfrogs walked-off for the second night in a row against the Battle Creek Bombers in an 8-7 win. With Monday's hero Mitch Haniger waiting on-deck, Billy Moon hit the game winning single for the 'Frogs. Green Bay had runners at the corners with no outs in the 12th inning. Moon took a 2-0 pitch right back up the middle past the drawn-in infield to score Ryan Allgrove. Moon reached in all seven plate appearances going 4-6 with singles in his final three at-bats. Green Bay has now won four in a row. It is the longest winning streak of the year.

Allgrove led the 12th inning off with a double to left field. The second baseman entered Tuesday night's ball game in a 0-11 slump and with just two hits all year. The double was Allgrove's fourth hit of the night. The Bullfrogs came from five runs down for the win to pull to within a game of Madison and Eau Claire who are tied for first place.

Green Bay trailed 7-2 after the fourth inning but scored two in the fifth and sixth inning before more drama in the bottom of the ninth. The Bullfrogs were down 7-6 headed into the final regulation frame. With one out they loaded the bases on back to back singles by Billy Moon and Mitch Haniger before an intentional walk to Duncan McAlpine. Nik Balog hit a deep fly ball to the warning track that Bryce Redeker got a glove on but could not hold on to. All three runners had to hold to see if the ball was a home run or was going to be caught. Moon came into score on the play as everyone moved up 90 feet. Andy Hunter then struck out with the bases loaded before Ty Filliben grounded out to third base to send the game into extras.

The 'Frogs scored first in the second inning on a two-run Nik Balog home run. However, they gave that lead right back in the third. 'Frogs starter Josh Martin retired the first seven hitters he faced. He then gave up four walks and three hits in the third as Battle Creek took a 4-2 lead.

The Bombers tacked on three more in the fourth. Martin gave up a single and two-out walk that prompted Manger Jordan Bischel to bring in Adam Cimber who gave up a three-run homer to Troy White, who was the first batter he faced. After that however, he would retire the next 13 in a row over 4.1 innings to give the 'Frogs a chance to comeback.

Green Bay scored two unearned runs in the fifth inning. With two outs and Allgrove on second Moon hit a ground ball to the shortstop Brett Wiley who threw low to first and Ryne Otis could not dig it out. Allgrove came into score when the ball bounced just a few feet away from Otis. Haniger then hit a double to make the game 7-4.

In the sixth, Balog led off the inning with an infield single and Hunter followed that by being hit by a pitch. After a sac bunt from Filliben to put them both in scoring position, Steven Halcomb had a RBI ground out and Allgrove had an infield single.

The bullpen of Cimber, John Colella and Kyle Linquist allowed just one run in 8.1 innings. It is the only earned run they have allowed during their current four-game winning streak which is their longest of the year.

The win puts Green Bay just one game back of the Express and Mallards with eight games left in the first half. The 'Frogs open a three game series with the Mallards on Wednesday. They send Zak Hermans to the mound at 7:05 pm. Hermans tossed a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts the last time he faced Madison.
