OMAHA SERIES RECAP

Round Rock won three of four, rebounding for a 4-0 shutout in the series opener. It marked the second time this season that the Express were defeated 4-0 in a series opener and then won the next three games; the other time was April 15-18 at New Orleans. Omaha out-hit the Express .315 to .281, but Round Rock tallied 11 home runs to the Storm Chasers' four. Chris Davis blistered Omaha pitching, going 7-for-14 with four home runs and nine RBI. Robinzon Diaz keyed a six-run fifth inning in last night's series finale with his first-career Triple-A grand slam. The three-games-to-one series victory gave Round Rock a 7-1 lead in the season series after a four-game sweep April 11-14 at The Dell Diamond.

CRUZ ASSIGNED TO MEXICO CITY

Infielder Luis Cruz was assigned to the Mexico City Reds of the Mexican League prior to Monday's game. Cruz hit .279 with nine home runs, 14 doubles and 32 RBI in 63 games with the Express. He leaves tied with Esteban German for the team lead in hits (72) and second behind Chad Tracy in total bases (115). Cruz had a July 1 out in his contract, and the Rangers granted him an early release.

EXPRESS REMAIN A GAME BEHIND ALBUQUERQUE

Round Rock (40-31, .563) remained one game behind Albuquerque (41-30, .577) in the American Southern Division with last night's win. The Isotopes clipped Iowa 4-3 last night. New Orleans (36-36, .500) sits five-and-a-half games back after a 2-1 loss last night at Oklahoma City (30-42, .417), which is 11-and-a-half games behind Albuquerque. The Express have at least shared the division lead following 53 of 71 games this season. Round Rock is 11-9 in division play. Tonight's game begins a stretch of eight straight and 11 of 15 against division opponents.

ROUND ROCK vs. AMERICAN SOUTHERN DIVISION

The Express are 11-9 against American Southern Division teams this season. Round Rock won three of four at New Orleans in mid-April. The Express are 7-5 against Oklahoma City and lost three of four at home against Albuquerque earlier this month. New Orleans and Albuquerque also are 11-9 in division play, while Oklahoma City is 11-17.

EXPRESS TOP HOMER-HITTING PCL TEAM

Round Rock leads the Pacific Coast League with 95 home runs, four more than Colorado Springs and Reno. The Express clubbed 11 homers over the last three games after being shutout in two straight. Round Rock has at least one home run in 11 of its last 14 games with 27 homers in that time. The Express were shutout in all three homerless games over that time. Round Rock hit 170 home runs in 2006, an average of 1.18 per game and still the club's Triple-A era (since 2005) record. The 2011 Express average 1.34 home runs per game and are on pace to hit 192 on the season. Furthermore, this year's club already is approaching 2009 (97) and 2010 (108) season totals.

ONE, TWO, THREE...

Round Rock has won three straight for the first time since a five-game streak May 5-9 that concluded with a four-game series sweep of Nashville. The Express were 16-21 between the two streaks, going 0-3 following consecutive wins during that time.

ROUND ROCK PERFECT FOLLOWING CONSECUTIVE LOSSES

Round Rock has not lost three straight games this season, going 10-0 following consecutive losses. Express wins in that situation were April 9 vs. Iowa, April 25 vs. Oklahoma City, April 29 at Memphis, May 15 at Las Vegas, May 19 vs. Colorado Springs, May 24 vs. Reno, June 1 at Oklahoma City, June 9 at Iowa, June 15 at Nashville and June 18 vs. Omaha.

BIG-INNING THEORY

Round Rock is 13-3 this season when scoring at least four runs in an inning and 27-28 when failing to do such. The Express enjoyed a six-run fifth inning last night against Omaha after a five-run fourth inning Sunday night. It marked the first time Round Rock scored at least four runs in an inning in consecutive games since May 8-9 against Nashville. However, the difference in record is even more pronounced based upon what the opponent does. The Express are 38-19 when not allowing an inning of at least four runs but 2-12 when the opponent posts such an inning. The lone victories were May 11 at Tucson when the Padres scored four first-inning runs and the Express rallied for a 7-5 victory and Sunday night when the Express built a 9-0 lead before weathering a four-run fourth inning by Omaha.

COMEBACK KIDS

Round Rock has 21 comeback win this season (trailing at any point in the game). The Express have won seven times when trailing after five innings, four times when trailing after six innings, four times when trailing after seven innings and twice when trailing entering the ninth inning.

CLOSE CALLS

Six of Round Rock's last 11 games have been one-run affairs. The Express were 2-4 in those games. Round Rock is 13-9 in one-run games. The Express started the season 7-1 in such games, lost four straight and then won five straight before dropping four of their last five. Round Rock is 21-16 in games decided by two runs or fewer.

FIVE IS THE KEY

Round Rock is 34-11 this season when scoring at least five runs. Only six times have the Express won when scoring fewer than five runs: April 12 vs. Omaha (3-2, 13 innings), April 13 vs. Omaha (2-0), April 18 at New Orleans (3-1), April 22 at Oklahoma City (2-1), May 27 vs. Iowa (3-1) and June 15 at Nashville (4-3). Round Rock has lost 18 of its last 20 when scoring fewer than five runs. Meanwhile, Round Rock is 24-8 when allowing fewer than five runs and 16-23 when allowing at least five runs.

EXPRESS LEAD PCL IN ATTENDANCE

Round Rock leads the PCL in attendance, averaging 8,366 fans per game. Sacramento is second with a 7,659 per-game average, while Albuquerque (7,333) is third. The Express have finished second or third in the PCL each season since joining the league in 2005.
