Barons Host Auctions for Tornado Relief
June 9, 2011 - Southern League (SL1)
Birmingham Barons News Release
Hoover, AL - The Birmingham Barons will be hosting baseball memorabilia auctions every Friday and Saturday night home game for the rest of the 2011 season with 100-percent of the proceeds benefitting the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham's Tornado Relief Fund.
After the tornadoes struck the greater-Birmingham community, the Barons reached out to every professional baseball organization across the country to help contribute items for the auctions and received a healthy response by providing all of these items to help raise funds for the tornado victims.
"The overwhelming support the baseball community has offered by donating all of these items for the auctions is incredible," said Barons General Manager Jonathan Nelson. "So many Major and Minor League Baseball teams have not only contributed multiple items but the quality and unique variety of auction items should help us raise money for those affected by the tragedy on April 27," he added.
A complete listing of items available for the auction are below and fans can find the listing on barons.com under the Community tool bar under in the top right corner of the team's home page.
