Mark Lamb to Participate in Portion of "Ride for the Kids" Event

Swift Current, SK - Swift Current Bronco General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb announced today that he will be taking part in a portion of the Western Hockey League "Ride for the Kids" bike relay. Lamb along with several other former NHL and WHL players will be departing Swift Current at approximately 8:00AM on Wednesday, June 8th from Scotiabank and embarking on the seven hour bike ride (173.3 kilometres) to Moose Jaw.

"This is a great opportunity," says Lamb. "I love doing any kind of charity work. It is the least I can do. The fact that it is benefiting the new Children's Hospital in Saskatchewan is fantastic. All the proceeds from this event are going to such a great cause. I feel extremely honoured to be taking part in it."

Lamb has been the General Manager and Head Coach for the Broncos for two complete seasons. Prior to his time in Swift Current, the Cadillac, SK product spent seven years as an assistant coach in the National Hockey League (six of those years spent with the Dallas Stars, one with the Edmonton Oilers). With a lengthy professional hockey career under his belt as well, (he started his pro-career drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 4th round, 72nd overall) Lamb played for the Flames, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers (1990 Stanley Cup Champions), Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, and Montreal Canadiens.

The WHL "Ride for the Kids" event will see former WHL and NHL players participating in a 655 kilometres bike relay across the province of Saskatchewan to raise awareness and funding for the new Children's Hospital in Saskatchewan.
