Raiders Spring Camp Underway
May 27, 2011 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Prince Albert SK- The Prince Albert Raiders will be hosting their annual Spring Camp this weekend starting Friday May 27th and ending Sunday May 29th. The 24 players are 16 and 17 year olds who are eligible to return for main training camp in August to compete for a spot on the Raiders 2011-2012 roster.
The players will go through fitness testing, have an individual training program developed for them, learn about nutrition, goal setting, and what it takes to play in the Western Hockey League as well as become familiar with the Raiders dressing room and weight room within the Art Hauser Centre. There also will be a number of team building activities to get the players familiar with each other before they take part in the Raider training camp.
"Our coaching staff feels it is important to give these players an opportunity to understand and learn the demands required in the WHL and to be a Raider", says Assistant Coach and Associate General Manager Steve Young. "With the great competition within the WHL the importance of conditioning, nutrition and mental training have become more evident in our program."
Registration is at 3:00 PM Friday afternoon at the Art Hauser Centre with the camp concluding Sunday morning.
