MAINEiacs Say Thank You

May 10, 2011 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) - Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

On behalf of the 2010-11 Lewiston MAINEiacs, our ownership group, staff, players, and volunteers, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support this past season.

No matter if you were a corporate partner, a billet, a volunteer, whether you attended each and every game, a few games, one game, or if you only followed us through the media and the web, you are all very important to us. We need each and every one of you to continue the process of doing all that we can to make the MAINEiacs succeed in Lewiston.

Few can argue that we had a terrific year on the ice. In fact, this was our second best season in franchise history! The staff and players came to work with their boots on day in and day out, and it showed with the results. As our team motivational friend Joey Blacquiere often said, "They played with their hearts on their sleeves!" The future looks bright for our on-ice product, starting with the upcoming draft in Victoriaville on June 4th, which is sure to be an exciting day for everyone to follow.

Off of the ice, we had some great days, some good days, and some hiccups. Given the circumstances surrounding the team, with all things considered, we learned a great deal. We know for certain that we have a very loyal core, and working together, we hope to build on that core.

We have launched our season tickets and flex packages for 2011-12, with specialty loyalty pricing for our current customers. The deadline to sign up for this special price is coming up on May 16th. As an extra added bonus, current customers can refer a friend, and the friend will receive the same loyalty price if they sign up by the same May 16th deadline. Prices for potential new season ticket and flex package holders will be released prior to June 1st.

In closing, it has been a pleasure to serve you. We appreciate your constant encouragement, as well as your patience and willingness to help things out along the way. We have all worked very hard to present an organization that you can all be very proud of. That goal will never change.

Sincerely,

Bill Schurman

HEAD COACH JEAN-FRANCOIS HOULE LOOKS BACK ON THE 2010-11 SEASON

Now that the 2010-11 season has come to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to give you, the fans, a closing statement about the season.

To start off, if we go all the way back to June and remember the draft, I truly believe that Roger Shannon, Tim Schurman, and all of our scouts did a great job in acquiring the correct personnel to fit our team. The 2010 draft was a successful day for the organization, and the trades that were made were beneficial in making this team successful on the ice.

Training camp was a fun experience, and entering the year, everyone seemed enthusiastic about where our team was headed. We felt that the group of leaders that we appointed as captains and alternates did an outstanding job throughout the year. They laid the foundation that was needed, and always kept the players in the locker room believing that we can achieve anything, as long as we work together. We had a special chemistry that made road trips fun and enjoyable.

One of the poignant times during the year was the month of November, when all of the players and staff grew mustaches to support "Movember." That unity translated into a ten-game winning streak on the ice, that made us believe that we were in fact an upper echelon team in the league. The team had continued success throughout the season, and showed the importance of depth, as many injuries occurred during the second half of the year. There were different players coming in and out of the lineup, but the team stayed on course, continuing to win games.

During the season, multiple players reached new career highs, while also creating new history in the franchise's record book. All of that made our team fun to follow, while also being exciting to watch. This team came a long way in one year, and the success was mostly attributed to hard work, leadership, and sacrifice.

The playoff experience that we acquired this year was very important to this club. We learned valuable lessons, such as how to bring our game to a new level during the postseason. We also learned about the importance of competing for a full sixty minutes every night, how to stay positive during tough times, and the importance of staying disciplined. We are proud of what we accomplished, but we are not satisfied on how the playoffs ended, as we would have liked to have given Saint John a better battle. The Sea Dogs were the top team in Canada, and the games were close, but we believe we could have done better. Because of that, we hope that the players will learn from the losses, and return next season with fires in their bellies, having their minds set on winning the President's Cup.

In closing, I would like to say thank you to all of the fans that continue to make this possible. Thank you for your continued support, for being there cheering us on through the good times and the bad. Your support means a lot to all of us, and it is greatly appreciated.

Have a great summer, and we will see you in August for training camp!

Sincerely,

J-F Houle

Head Coach
