TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Bowie Baysox will meet in the opener of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels never trailed, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning en route to a 7-2 win over the Trenton Thunder in the finale of a four-game series on Thursday afternoon in front of 4,469 fans at The Diamond.

TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Left-hander Clayton Tanner gets the start in the series opener for the Flying Squirrels...Enters the season rated as the #30 prospect in the Giants farm system according to Baseball America...Received a no-decision in his last outing 4/22 against Altoona...Allowed two runs on three hits in six innings...Struck out four batters and walked three...Both runs allowed came with two outs in the top of the sixth inning...Two of the three hits he allowed went for extra bases...Recorded seven ground outs and seven fly outs...Allowed the leadoff man to reach in three of his six innings, scored once...Threw 85 pitches, 46 strikes...Threw 15 pitches or fewer in four of his six innings...Threw first-pitch strikes to nine of the 25 batters he faced...Spent the entire 2010 season with Richmond and went 9-9 with a 3.68 ERA in 27 starts...Struck out 79 batters and walked 64 in 149 innings...Named an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star, but did not pitch in the game...Finished the season ninth in the EL in ERA...Only Flying Squirrel that is a member of the San Francisco Giants 40-man roster...Selected in the 3rd round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

GOING STREAKING': The Flying Squirrels will be in search of the their first three-game winning streak of the season tonight...The club has won consecutive games three times...The club is trying to get above the .500 mark for the first time since 5-4 on 4/15.

BEAUTIFUL DAY: The Flying Squirrels won during the day for the first time this season, improving to 1-3 during day games...Richmond also improved to 2-4 in series finales.

PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 2.90 through 20 games...Richmond led the league in staff ERA last April, posting a 2.39 ERA in 21 games...The club's 167 strikeouts as a staff are third-most in the league...The Flying Squirrels' bullpen has allowed just one run over its last 17 innings and has posted a 2.75 ERA overall.

TAKING OFFENSE: The Flying Squirrels fared much better offensively during their seven-game home stand, scoring 34 total runs (4.9 R/G) while hitting .249 (64-for-257) as a team...Richmond struggled offensively during their last road trip, hitting .199 (39-for-196) as a team on the six-game, seven-day, trip through Altoona and Trenton...The club scored a total of 12 runs (2.0 R/G), five of which came in Richmond's lone win (5-2) 4/15 at Altoona...The club raised its team batting average from .217 to .229; however, the Flying Squirrels still rank second-to-last in the Eastern League in that category (Trenton .225).

THE GEORGIA PEACH: Second baseman Charlie Culberson went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored yesterday against Trenton...His four RBIs were a season-high for a Richmond batter, and he matched team single-game highs in runs scored, extra-base hits, and total bases...The 22-year-old has hits in is batting .387 (12-for-31) with three doubles, a triple, a home run, six RBIs, and six runs scored...He has walked five times and has struck out five times over that stretch...Culberson has appeared in all 20 games for the Flying Squirrels and leads the Eastern League with 80 at-bats.

NOOONAN: Shortstop Nick Noonan has hits in each of his first seven games with the Flying Squirrels since joining the club from Extended Spring Training on 4/21...The 21-year-old is 8-for-31 (.269) with one RBI and four runs scored while striking out six times and walking three...It is the longest hit streak of the season for a Flying Squirrels' batter...Noonan's longest hit streak in 2010 was five games, which occurred four times...The longest hit streak of his career is 14 games (5/31/08-6/19/08).

THE JOLLY ROGER: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick has hits in five straight games for the second time this season...He also had hits in five straight from 4/7-4/11...Over his last five games, the 24-year-old is 7-for-21 (.333) with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored...The longest hit streak last season for Kieschnick was just six games which occurred twice...The Texas Tech product missed 75 games in 2010 due to a back injury.
