Game Four in Lewiston Tonight

April 27, 2011 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) - Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Welcome to Game Four

Tonight is game four of the best-of-seven third round series between the Lewiston MAINEiacs and Saint John Sea Dogs. After taking each of the first two games at Harbour Station, the Sea Dogs continued their winning ways last night, earning a 5-2 win to take a 3-0 lead in the series. If the MAINEiacs are able to win tonight's contest, the series will be extended to game five, which would take place on Friday night in Saint John.

A Killer Unit

The Saint John penalty killing unit held the MAINEiacs scoreless last night on seven power play opportunities. After lighting the lamp eleven times on the man advantage in round two against Montreal, Lewiston has been limited to just one power play goal in 16 chances against the Sea Dogs. With their performance in this series thus far, Saint John has now killed off 60 of 64 opposition power plays in 12 playoff games, giving them a 93.8% success rate.

Add Another Game to the Streak

With his goal during the second period of last night's game, the MAINEiacs' Kirill Kabanov extended his point streak to eleven games. Kabanov was held off of the scoresheet in Lewiston's first three playoff games against Moncton, but has since recorded eight goals, eleven assists, and 19 points against Moncton, Montreal, and Saint John. The eleven-game streak is tied for the longest in the 2011 playoffs, along with Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Frederick Roy. Lewiston's Sam Carrier has the second longest active point streak, appearing on the scoresheet in eight straight tilts.

Rolling 12's

The Sea Dogs' Jonathan Huberdeau was one of three players in the QMJHL with at least 100 points during the regular season, and he has brought that scoring touch with him into the playoffs. In 12 postseason games thus far, Huberdeau has 12 goals, 12 assists, and 24 points, placing him second in the league behind Jonathan Audy-Marchessault. The 17-year old was held scoreless in game one of this series - the only game he has failed to record a point in since February 26th.

Stopping Pucks

When the series began on Friday night, Andrey Makarov and Mathieu Corbeil-Theriault both found themselves on the bench. Since then, both netminders have made their ways into their respective creases, posting solid numbers in the series. Makarov has stopped all 20 shots he has faced in 47:28 of action for Lewiston, while Corbeil-Theriault has turned aside 61 of 64 shots in 131:49 of action for Saint John.

Quebec Takes the Lead

In the other semi-final series in the QMJHL, the Quebec Remparts and Gatineau Olympiques took the ice for game three last night. Gatineau took a 1-0 lead in the first period, only to see Quebec score twice in the third for a 2-1 victory. For the second game in a row, the Remparts netted the winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, as they take a 2-1 series lead into game four tonight at Gatineau.

DROPPING THE PUCK

Prior to Tuesday night's game, the MAINEiacs had a special ceremony on the ice, honoring 100-year old Doris Makas, the oldest season ticket holder in the CHL. Doris got the evening started, dropping the puck between captains Cameron Critchlow and Mike Thomas.

On Wednesday night, the MAINEiacs will once again have a special part of their organization get the game started, as the members of Lewy's Legion (the winners of the 2010-11 Bernard Just Trophy for the most valuable member[s] of the organization) will perform the ceremonial puck drop.

AUBURN LION'S CLUB

The Auburn Lion's Club will have a table during game four of the playoff series between the MAINEiacs and Sea Dogs TONIGHT at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. The club will be accepting donations for eyeglasses and hearing aids. Please bring any unwanted eyeglasses and hearing aids that you no longer use, that way they may be recycled for people in need within the community.

Stop by the Auburn Lion's Club Table tonight, and find out what they do in the community in cooperation with local area businesses. Plus, you will have the opportunity to meet Leo the Lion!

LEWY's LEGION STREET GANG

In preparation for every MAINEiacs' home game, the Lewy's Legion Street Gang makes their way out to the streets of Lewiston and Auburn with bells, horns, signs, and MAINEiacs' gear, hoping to lure the passing drivers into the Androscoggin Bank Colisee for that night's game.

TODAY from 11:30-1:30, the street gang will be at the intersection by Residence Inn and Starbucks in Auburn.

Come on out with game day gear, orange gear (THE HUNT IS ON!), playoff signs, horns, bells, and more, as Lewy's Legion helps to fill the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in round three!

2011-12 SEASON TICKET INFORMATION

2011-12 season tickets and flex package renewal forms for current full season and flex package holders will be available at the MAINEiacs' home playoff games. There are now special "Alumni Loyalty" pricing options available for those who had season tickets or flex packages during the 2010-11 season.
