Islanders Agree to Terms with Tyler McNeely

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (Apr. 20, 2011) - The New York Islanders announced Wednesday that they have agreed to terms with forward Tyler McNeely on a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract.

McNeely, 24, appeared in the final 10 games of the 2010-11 season with the Sound Tigers on an amateur tryout contract, scoring five goals and six assists (11 points) and posting a plus-9 rating.

Prior to his stint with the Sound Tigers, the Burnaby, B.C. native completed four years at Northeastern University. The 5'10", 175-pound forward totaled 44 goals and 61 assists in 142 games with the Huskies, including a career-high 13 goals and 21 assists in his senior campaign.

McNeely played his junior hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), having the greatest impact with his hometown Burnaby Express. In his final two seasons in the BCHL, McNeely amassed 184 points (62 goals, 122 assists) in just 111 games.
