Dallas Vigilantes News Release

DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Vigilantes (3-2) defeated the Milwaukee Mustangs (1-4) in decisive fashion Thursday night at the American Airlines Center, 49-21. Dallas stayed away from turning the ball over, for the most part, and created some turnovers of its own. Vigilante quarterback Dan Raudabaugh got his stride back, completing 14 of 25 for 225 yards and four touchdowns, recording only one interception the whole night.

The Dallas defense started the first quarter strong, as Vigilante defensive back would pick off Mustangs quarterback RJ Archer on Milwaukee's opening drive. From there, the Vigilante offense would take over, with fullback Derrick Ross punching in a four- yard touchdown run, capping off a seven-play, 31-yard drive.

But the Mustangs would answer on their next possession. Making up for the early turnover, Archer would run a one-yard QB keeper to day light.

Due to a missed Milwaukee PAT, Dallas would start the second quarter enjoying a one-point advantage, leading 7-6. Finding more success in the rushing game, Dallas would again score with the run, this time off of a one-yard sweep to receiver Matt Fields. The go ahead score would put the Vigilantes up 14-6 with 12:45 to go in the second.

After a Mustangs field goal, Raudabaugh would come to life, firing a 41-yard touchdown strike to receiver DeAndrew Rubin, increasing Dallas' lead to 21-9.

"Raudabaugh played well; that was a key our success tonight," Vigilante head coach Clint Dolezel said. "Our defense was strong, and if they keep playing like that and Raudabaugh plays the way he did tonigh, we'll be tough to beat."

To put the icing on the first half, Raudabaugh decided to add a little trickery to the offensive attack, finding offensive lineman Tony Washington on a 12-yard screen for a touchdown.

With 44 seconds to go, Milwaukee would finally answer with a seven-yard touchdown run to fullback Mykel Benson.

Deciding to tack on one more touchdown before the end of the half, Raudabaugh would fire a 20-yard bullet to receiver Tiger Jones with seven seconds left to go, slating the score 31-15, Vigilantes, at halftime.

"I thought we were on top of our game tonight," Raudabaugh said. "We played well offensively and defensively. We took care of the ball, and we made plays when we had opportunities.

Turnovers would haunt the Viginates again to begin the second half. Raudabaugh was picked off in Dallas' opening drive, allowing the Mustangs to set up shop on their own 12-yard line. But the interception would be in vein, as Vigilante defensive back Chris LeFlore would tally Dallas' second interception of the night.

On the next Vigilante possession, a 42-yard pass to Jones would set up Ross for his second rushing touchdown of the night, a one-yard goal line draw.

"I think the passing game really free'd up our running game tonight," Ross said. "The offensive line played outstanding, too. I have to give a lot of credit to them."

The Mustangs answered on their next drive, scoring on a two-yard by Benson at 11:34. A nine-yard touchdown pass to Rubin in the next Vigilante drive would keep the Mustangs at bay, 49-21.

Next up for the Vigilantes is a Saturday, April 23 showdown in Tampa Bay versus the Storm. Dallas will be back on the road for two consecutive weeks, until it comes home on May 6 to take on Central Division rival Iowa Barnstormers.
