Andrew Martens Called to AHL

WICHITA, KS- Thunder defenseman Andrew Martens has been signed by the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

Martens finished second among CHL defensemen this season with 54 points, while tying for fourth with 15 goals. The sixth-year pro earned a spot on the 2011 All-CHL Team and was also named the league's Most Outstanding Defenseman.

This will be Martens' second opportunity at the AHL level. The Calgary, Alberta native split time with Manitoba and Toronto during the 2008-09 season, totaling 11 points in 27 games played.

The Monsters are the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
