Daoust Named Aeros 2010-11 IOA/American Specialty Man of the Year

March 28, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON --- The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League are proud to announce that forward Jean-Michel Daoust has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Houston community during the 2010-11 season.

Daoust, 27 (11/24/83), has consistently been the first to volunteer his time to any charitable, school or hospital visit the Aeros have scheduled. Highlights this season include visiting Houston's Open Door Mission during the holiday season, spending time with senior citizens involved in Houston's Meals on Wheels program and visiting with youth hockey players at local rinks.

Daoust is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2010-11 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.

The Aeros return to action this Thursday night when they host the Chicago Wolves at Toyota Center at 7 p.m. Call 713-974-7825 for Aeros ticket information and other promotions.
