PrairieThunder Lose 1-0 at Evansville on Saturday Night

March 26, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release

Evansville's Jeff Christian scored the only goal of the game, a shorthanded one, at 7:27 of the first period and the IceMen would go on to a 1-0 stunner over the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Saturday night in Indiana. With the loss, the PrairieThunder (37-22-6) will be unable to catch Colorado for first place as the Eagles (who lost tonight at Fort Wayne) finish the season with 84 points, four ahead of Bloomington but the PThunder only has one game remaining in the regular season.

For the veteran Christian, the game winning goal was his 545th professional goal in a career dating back to the 1990-91 season with the Utica Devils of the American Hockey League. Evansville's goaltender, Matt Lundin stopped all 31 shots he faced for his first shutout of the year. Bloomington had its chances with 31 shots but went 0 for 7 on the power play.

Bloomington has earned home ice for the best of five Turner Conference Quarterfinals which begin next weekend. The PrairieThunder will play games #1 & #2 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday, April 2nd @ 7:05pm and Sunday, April 3rd @ 3:05pm. Their opponent is still to be determined this weekend and the entire best of five schedule should be released on Sunday evening.
