PASL-Pro Weekly - Week 17

March 9, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release

Cincinnati Six Pack

3/9/11 - The regular season concluded with the Winnipeg Alliance sending the Detroit Waza home empty handed. Winnipeg's 2-1 OT and 9-5 doubleheader sweep eliminated the Waza from qualifying for the playoffs and punched the Tacoma Stars ticket for Cincinnati.

On Saturday Calgary completed an unlikely turnaround by beating Edmonton 9-3 to win the CMISL title for the second straight year. Edmonton had a seemingly insurmountable lead in the division, but lost their last four games.

Tacoma and Calgary will join Cincinnati, San Diego, Calgary, Mexico City, and Guadalajara in the North American Championships March 10-12 in Cincinnati.

Player of the Week

Jordan Goetting, Winnipeg Alliance

The elder statesman of the Alliance at 34 is the team captain and has played all five years of the Alliance's existence. The mohawked forward celebrated his birthday Sunday with a goal in each win against Detroit, plus two assists in the second game. With their two wins over Detroit and two earlier wins against Calgary, the Alliance may be turning the corner on the field.
