FALCONS TEAM/PLAYER NOTES

Nick Holden had his first multi-goal game of the season on Sunday, February 27 in Wilkes-Barre.

David Savard collected two assists on February 27, followed by another helper on March 2, giving him seven goals and 21 assists for 28 points in 54 games. He leads all Falcons defensemen in scoring this year and he has three multi-point games in his last eight contests.

Captain Ben Guite has collected a point in four of his last five games collecting two goals and three assists in that span. Guite has collected a point in eight of his last 11 games overall totaling four goals and six assists for 10 points in that stretch.

Tomas Kana is on a four-game scoring streak having collected one goal and three assists in that span.

Tomas Kubalik scored his 20th goal of the year on March 2 in Hartford and became the first Falcons rookie to score 20 goals in a season since Jeff Taffe scored 23 in 2002-03. Daniel Briere holds the Falcons rookie record for goals in a season with 36, followed by Jason Jaspers with 25 in 2001-02 and Taffe's 23 in 2002-03. Kubalik has points in four of his last five games collecting three goals and two assists in that span. Kubalik remains second in the AHL in rookie scoring with 20 goals and 22 assists for 42 points in 61 games.

David LeNeveu won three straight starts from February 23-26 collecting a 1.67 goals against average and .943 save percentage in that span.

The Falcons reached the 30-win plateau for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

The Falcons had their most productive month in February going 8-5. The Falcons were 6-2 at home and 2-3 on the road. The Falcons had two three-game winning streaks in February, their longest winning streaks of the year.

CONNECTICUT WHALE TEAM/PLAYER NOTES

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced Thursday that forward Kris Newbury has been assigned to the Whale.

Newbury, 28, has skated in three of the last four contests following his recall from Connecticut on February 20, and has registered one assist and 35 penalty minutes in 11 games with the Rangers this season. He made his Blueshirts debut at Montreal on January 15, and recorded his first point as a Ranger with the primary assist on the game-tying goal in a 3-2 shootout win at Atlanta on January 22.

Newbury returns to Connecticut, where he has recorded nine goals and 33 assists for 42 points, along with 105 penalty minutes in 51 games this season. He led the team and was tied for eighth in the AHL in assists, and ranked second on the Whale in points and fourth in penalty minutes at the time of his recall. Newbury has registered a team-high, 11 multi-point performances this season, including two separate streaks of three games with multiple points - November 13 vs. Springfield to November 19 at Springfield (six assists), and December 3 at Providence to December 11 vs. Manchester (one goal, six assists). The 5-11, 213-pounder established a career-high with an eight-game assist streak from November 28 vs. Adirondack to December 17 vs. Worcester, recording three goals and 12 assists over the span.

The Brampton, Ontario native was originally San Jose's fifth round pick, 139th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Rangers from Detroit in exchange for forward Jordan Owens on March 3, 2010.
