Cincinnati Native Evans Earns UIFL Weekly Nod

CANTON, OH - The Ultimate Indoor Football League is pleased to announce the first-ever Players of the Week, led by a pair of Eastern Kentucky Drillers.

Eastern Kentucky receiver Aric Evans was named Offensive Player of the Week after a five-touchdown performance in the Drillers' 49-44 loss to Saginaw. He hauled in 11 passes for 85 yards to go along with the five scoring receptions.

The Defensive Player of the Week nod went Huntington's Kevin Allen, Jr. He was part of a Huntington defense that scored five touchdows in helping the Hammer post the 41-26 victory over Canton. Allen had interceptions of 20 and 50 yards, respectively, taken back for scores. He added two solo and two assisted tackles in the winning effort.

By taking the opening kickoff 50 yards for a touchdown, Eastern Kentucky defensive back/kick returner David Jones picks up Special Teams Player of the Week.

The second week of the Ultimate Indoor Football League season is Friday with a full slate of games as the Northern Kentucky River Monsters and the Johnstown Generals hit the field for the first time.

The Ultimate Indoor Football League is a professional indoor football league with six teams in five states. The teams are places in Saginaw, Mich. (Saginaw Sting), Canton, Ohio (Canton Cougars), Johnstown, Pa. (Johnstown Generals), Highland Heights, Ky. (Northern Kentucky River Monsters), Pikeville, Ky. (Eastern Kentucky Drillers) and Huntington, WVa. (Huntington Hammer).
