Rapid City Rush News Release

(Moline, IL) - The Rapid City Rush moved into a tie for second place in the Turner Conference with a 6-2 win over the Quad City Mallards on Wednesday night at the i-wireless Center. The Rush were led by Konrad Reeder and Ryan Menei who combined for seven points, as well as goaltender Tim Boron who remains perfect at 6-0-0. The Rush have now begun their season-long 8-game road trip with back-to-back wins.

Two of Rapid City's hottest skaters led the way in the opening period, leading the Rush to a 3-0 lead. Konrad Reeder got the game started by poking home a rebound from the goal mouth at the 7:03 mark, extending his point streak to six games. Not to be outdone, Ryan Menei extended his point streak to a team-high nine games when he fired a laser off of the crossbar and in, extending the Rush lead at the 10:50 mark. Finally, with 1:34 remaining in the first, Reeder collected his second of the game, stuffing home a back door pass from Josh Beaulieu. The Rush outshot the Mallards 15-6 through the first 20 minutes of play.

The Mallards got on the board with six and a half minutes left in the second, cutting the lead down to two. Tyler Shelast sent a slapshot that caromed off of two bodies in front and past Boron for his 9th of the season.

Midway through the final period, Reeder sprung Colt King and Ryan Menei on a 2-on-1 opportunity. King slid a pass to Menei who touched it right back to the veteran who snapped home his 8th of the season, making it 4-1. Just 31 seconds later, Brandon Marino was able to pry a puck loose from side of the net and slide home his 4th of the season, cutting the lead to two. The Rush bounced back less than two minutes later when Derek LeBlanc was denied on a partial break, but the rebound was backhanded home by Jamie Carroll. The game was put out of reach when Les Reaney scored an empty net goal with less than four minutes remaining, brining the game to its 6-2 final.

Rush goaltender Tim Boron made 28 saves to remain perfect at 6-0-0 while Adam Russo stopped 41 shots in the loss.

The Rush now continue on their current road trip by traveling to Odessa to battle the Jackalopes on Friday and Saturday.
