Peoria Sweeps Heat 3-1

PEORIA ILL - Graham Mink scored twice, including the empty netter with just six seconds to play, as the Peoria Rivermen hang on to edge the Abbotsford Heat 3-1 in AHL action on Saturday night in Central Illinois.

Peoria scored two goals in twenty seconds early in the first period to jump out early, then rode the goaltending of 6'7" Ben Bishop the rest of the way. Bishop turned aside twenty three of twenty four Heat shots on the night to pick up his sixth win of the season.

Maple Ridge's Brett Sonne opened the scoring for Peoria, while Logan MacMillan was the only Abbotsford shooter to beat Bishop.

The Heat finish their 5 game road trip 2-2-0-1 and will look forward to returning home and taking on the Manitoba Moose next Friday and Saturday night at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.
