NORFOLK, VA - Derek Whitmore scored the shootout game winner for the second time this season and David Leggio turned aside four of the five shots he faced to lift the Portland Pirates to a 6-5 win over the Norfolk Admirals in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,480 at Scope.
Luke Adam paced the Pirates in regulation with a goal and two assists while Marc-Andre Gragnani netted two goals. Mark Mancari and Drew Schiestel rounded out the scoring for the Pirates, who posted their first road win of the season to improve to 7-2-0-0 on the season.

Norfolk struck for their first lead of the game to go up 4-3 two minutes later as Pouliot scored with the man advantage only to see Schiestel draw the Pirates back even at four midway through the second to complete the second-period scoring. Wishart gave the Admirals a 5-4 lead halfway through the third but Adam tied it with 5:17 left in regulation to force overtime and eventually the shootout.
