Florida Everblades News Release

GREENVILLE, SC - The Florida Everblades (2-2-0) overcame a two-goal third period deficit and used a hat-trick from Alex Imbeault to defeat the Greenville Road Warriors (1-0-1) 7-6 in overtime on Friday night at the BI-LO Center.

A back-and-forth first period saw the team trade a pair of goals. It was the Road Warriors that opened the scoring in the contest at the 10:12 mark when Mark Voakes notched the first of his two goals. Greenville worked the puck down low to the left side of the net. Voakes picked up control of the puck before swinging behind the net and tucking it inside the right post for the 1-0 lead.

Just over a minute later the Everblades tied the game when Alex Imbeault picked up a rebound at the right side of the Greenville net then lifted a back-hand shot past a diving Road Warriors net minder Nic Riopel at 11:34. Mitch Fadden collected the assist after starting the play into the zone from center ice.

Florida then grabbed a 2-1 lead at 14:58 on a nice passing play that began with Matt Pistilli intercepting an outlet pass by Greenville before setting up Mathieu Roy in the left circle with a 2-on-1 down low. Roy took at look at the net, freezing Riopel before sliding a pass across to the bottom of the right circle where Mike Kennedy hammered home his first professional goal.

The lead however didn't last long as the Road Warriors pulled even with a power play marker at 17:50. Voakes notched his second goal of the night after batting home a rebound from the doorstep. Everblades goaltender Jaroslav Janus made the initial save on a shot by Blake Parlett but the rebound popped up off his pads and Voakes was able to bat it out of the air and into the net to even the score at two.

The teams continued to trade goals in the second period however before the dust settled at the end of the middle stanza Greenville carried a 5-3 lead into the second intermission. The Road Warriors opened the scoring in the period with a 5-on-3 power play goal at 9:50 on Brendan Connolly's second goal of the season.

The Everblades however responded with a power play marker of their own when Imbeault collected his second tally of the night on a nice passing play that began with Fadden taking a pass from Elgin Reid before slipping a pass down low to Francis Lemieux. From the right corner Lemieux found Imbeault open in the slot where he one-timed a shot past Riopel at 13:15.

Greenville added two more goals before the period closed with the first coming at 14:38 when Julien Brouillette one-timed a shot from the left circle past Janus, then the Road Warriors grabbed a two-goal lead with Andrew Carroll's first goals of the season from the doorstep with 45 seconds remaining in the frame.

The wild third period began with the Everblades cutting the Road warrior lead down to one when Mathieu Roy deflected a pass by Pistilli past Riopel at 4:41. Florida then battled back to tie the contest with a short-handed marker by Pistilli at 11:47wristing a shot home from the left circle.

The Everblades however coughed up a quick goal after Imbeault's tally when Marc-Olivier Vallerand banged home a one-time shot from the right post at 12:18. The Everblades again though showed resiliency and tied the game at 16:28 as Imbeault completed his hat-trick with a power play goal after Kyle Lawson's blast from the top of the left circle trickled between the pads of Riopel before Imbeault knocked it home.

With the game heading into overtime, the Everblades collected the game-winner from Bobby Raymond after Pisilli's shot from the bottom of the left circle was deflected out to the high slot where the rookie defenseman stepped into a powerful slapshot that blew past Riopel with 29 seconds remaining in the overtime period.

In goal Janus picked up his first win as an Everblade stopping 35 of 41 shots to improve to 1-1-0. Riopel got credit for a tie after allowing the seven goals on 33 shots, dropping his record to 1-0-1.

On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 2-of-7, while Greenville closed out the game 2-of-7.
