Opening Weekend Recap

The Grizzlies are 1-0-1-0 after taking three of a possible four points in Anchorage over the weekend. Utah currently sits in first place alone atop the Mountain Division.

Best Trip Ever

The Grizzlies 12th trip to Anchorage was the best since Utah started making the 6,000 mile round trip from Salt Lake City in 2005. Utah's .750 winning percentage this weekend bested their previous top trip to Alaska, in which they took two of three games from the Aces for a .667 winning percentage December 28-31, 2007.

J.P.'s Return To Alaska

J.P. Lamoureux, who starred for the Aces in 2008-2009 and was named the league's goaltender of the year as a rookie, returned to the Sullivan Arena and stopped 70 of 75 shots for a save percentage of .933 in Utah's first two games. He was welcomed back to Alaska by standing ovations each night from the Sullivan Arena crowd.

Brad Snetsinger Leads The Scoring Push

Brad Snetsinger factored in on five of seven Utah goals this past weekend and the final four scores on Saturday. His two goals and two assists Saturday and one assist Friday currently put him for a tie for second in the league in scoring.

Impactful Rookie

Chris Donovan burst onto the pro scene with a fight 8:40 into the first period Friday and put Utah up 2-1 in the third period with his first pro goal. Donovan assisted on two goals in 1:14 Saturday as Utah broke a 1-1 second period tie and built a 3-1 lead.

Other Scorers

Jake Gannon (three assists), Brent Gauvreau (two assists) and Hugo Carpentier (two goals, one assist) joined Snetsinger and Donovan as players to score in both weekend games for Utah.

Special Teams

The Grizzlies, who last year led the ECHL on the power-play; this year currently lead the ECHL on the penalty-kill by going 12-12 in Alaska.

Who Are These People?

The Grizzlies opponent this weekend in Bakersfield, enter their first year as the ECHL affiliate for the Minnesota Wild. The Condors dropped their first game of the year 4-3 to Las Vegas at home Saturday.

Pink in the Rink

Saturday, the Grizzlies will host their fifth-annual "Pink in the Rink" game for breast cancer awareness. The team's game worn pink jerseys will be auctioned off live after the game with all proceeds going to fight breast cancer.
