Bucks Strengthen Defense with Crum

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Wednesday that they have signed defenseman B.J Crum for the 2010-11 season. Crum, who is entering his fourth professional season, spent the last three years in the ECHL.
In his first three professional seasons the 27-year-old Crum played in a total of 157 games in the ECHL putting up a combined 17 points (4-1317) and 163 PIM's. In nine career ECHL playoff games Crum has a total of three points (2-13).
"B.J is a very solid defenseman who can do a lot of good things on the ice," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "He makes a lot of good decisions and has proven to be a very good defenseman. We've worked hard at improving our defense this season and B.J will be a big key in doing that."
Last season with the Alaska Aces the 6'2'', 205 pound Crum notched career highs in games played (62), assists (6) and PIM's (73), while tying a career high with seven points. In four playoff games last season Crum had three points (2-13).
In 2008-09 Crum, a native of Hampden, Massachusetts, had three points (1-23) and 66 PIM's in 51 combined games with Alaska and Augusta. Crum began the season playing 18 games for Augusta (1-01, 34 PIM's) before playing the final 33 games for Alaska (0-22, 32 PIM's.
In his rookie season in 2007-08 Crum picked up a career high two goals, while handing out five assists totaling a career high seven points to go along with 24 PIM's while spending time with Johnstown and Augusta. Crum began his rookie season by playing 26 games for Johnstown (1-34, 12 PIM's) before playing the final 18 with Augusta (1-23, 12 PIM's. Crum was held to zero points in five playoff games that season with Augusta.
Prior to turning pro Crum played four years of college hockey at the University of Connecticut. In his four seasons with the Huskies Crum played in 133 games scoring 38 points (18-2038) with 194 PIM's.
Crum is the 24th Buck signed this off-season.
