Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that the club has claimed forward Dylan McGuigan off of waivers from the Halifax Mooseheads. McGuigan, 18, will join the team immediately and is expected to be in Saint John's lineup this weekend.

A native of Montague, PEI, McGuigan split the 2009-10 season between Halifax (QMJHL) and Truro (MJAHL). The 5'10", 191 lb. winger appeared in 14 games with the Mooseheads (0G-0A-0P-11PIM) and a dozen with the Bearcats (0G-1A-1P-9PIM) last year.

The Sea Dogs also announced today that affiliate players Devon Oliver-Dares, 16, and Brock Morrison, 17, have been called up to the QMJHL. Both forwards appeared in multiple pre-season games for the Port City's major junior squad. Oliver-Dares was selected by Saint John in the third round (54th overall) of the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft, while Morrison was chosen 128th overall (Round Eight).

Saint John's 2010-11 season gets underway tomorrow night when division rivals Prince Edward Island skate into town for a 7:30pm showdown at Harbour Station. A pair of banners will be raised to the arena rafters prior to puck drop on Friday, both in recognition of the Sea Dogs' highly-successful fifth anniversary season. The first 5,000 fans in attendance tomorrow night will receive a free replica banner magnet courtesy of founding partners Irving Oil and Moosehead Breweries. Tickets to this match can be obtained by calling the arena box office at (506) 657-1234, or by visiting www.tickets.harbourstation.ca.
