Rawhide Host Hall of Famer Doug Harvey Tomorrow

August 31, 2010 - California League (CalL1) - Visalia Rawhide News Release

VISALIA---Recent baseball Hall of Fame inductee Doug Harvey will be honored at Recreation Ballpark before Visalia's game against Bakersfield tomorrow in a star-studded pre-game ceremony.

Harvey, who umpired for 3 decades in the National League and is hailed as one of the greatest umpires of all time, is the first Tulare County resident to be enshrined in Cooperstown. He has lived in nearby Woodlake for over 30 years.

Harvey will be joined by Hall of Fame NFL referee Jim Tunney, who will address hundreds of local high school football players in a pre-game speech.

In addition to the celebrity duo, California League President Charlie Blaney will present the league's Most Valuable Player Award to Rawhide infielder Paul Goldschmidt. He will also recognize Goldschmidt and outfielder Marc Krauss' selections to the league Post-Season All-Star team, and will present Rawhide trainer Nick Oldroyd with the Athletic Trainer of the Year Award.
