CHICAGO, IL (August 23, 2010) - The Chicago Fire are participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area this week. Throughout the year, the Fire participate in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.

This week's Fire appearances feature Chicago Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas at the 5th Annual Chicago Sister Cities International Festival on Monday, Aug. 23 from noon - 1 PM CT. Fire mascot, Sparky will make stops at a number of Back-to-School events in support of Chicago Public Schools, the 5th Annual Chicago Sister Cities International Festival on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Millennium Park from 11:30 AM CT - 1:30 PM CT, Jammer's Birthday Party at Silver Cross Field on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 6:10 PM, Pepsi Tall Ships Chicago 2010 on Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 11 AM - noon at Navy Pier and Fire Friday's at the Brookfield Zoo on Friday, Aug. 27 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM, in addition to others. 5th Annual Chicago Sister Cities International Festival

Who: Chicago Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas and Mascot, Sparky

What: The Chicago Sister Cities International Program will host its 5th Annual Chicago Sister Cities International Festival at Millennium Park on August 23-27, 2010 from 10:30 AM - 5 PM daily. Join the Chicago Fire as they help kick off the first few days of this exciting event. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Chicago Sister Cities International, and in celebration, the festival will transform Millennium Park's South Promenade into an international village of food, music, dance and merchants. With all 28 of Chicago's Sister Cities represented, this festival truly represents the diversity and international spirit that exists in Chicago. Click here for more information.

Jammer's Birthday Party

Who: Chicago Fire Mascot, Sparky

When: Tuesday, August 24; 6:10 PM game

Where: Silver Cross Field - 1 Mayor Art Schultz Dr., Joliet, IL 60432

What: Sparky and his furry mascot friends will be at Silver Cross Field on Tuesday evening to help celebrate Jammer's birthday. The Joliet Jackhammers face the Schaumburg Flyers at 6:10 PM CT. The first 1,000 kids 17 and younger will receive a Free Jammer's bobble head. Stick around after the game to run the bases with Jammer and eat some birthday cake. Pepsi Tall Ships Chicago 2010

When: Tuesday, August 24 - Sunday, August 29

Wednesday, August 25; 11:00 AM - noon PM (Sparky)

Where: Navy Pier - 600 E. Grand Ave., Chicago, IL 60611

What: Join the Chicago Fire Soccer Club on August 24 - 29 for Pepsi Tall Ships Chicago 2010. For the first time in Chicago, a tall ships festival of this size will be located in one place: Navy Pier. Visitors can view all of them, board up to 12 of the vessels and even take daily sails aboard five of the tall ships. The pageantry kicks-off with an opening day Parade of Sail on Lake Michigan, starting at 4 PM CT on Tuesday, August 24 followed by the official Opening Ceremony at 5 PM CT. Details: Don't miss the final "Red Hot Fire Friday" at Brookfield Zoo on Friday, August 27. Join Sparky and our F.I.R.E Express Crew on the North Mall for an exciting afternoon at the Zoo. Back-to-School Event @ Erie Elementary

Where: Erie Elementary Charter School - 2510 W. Cortez, Chicago, IL 60622

What: Sparky and the Chicago Fire will be at Erie Elementary on Friday, August 27th to help kick off the start of their school year. EECS provides Chicago children with a high-quality bilingual education that values their unique life experience, language and culture. Back-to-School Festival @ Benito Juarez Academy

Where: Benito Juarez Community Academy - 2150 South Laflin Street Chicago, IL 60608

What: The Chicago Fire is teaming with Chicago Public Schools for various Back-to-School events throughout the city. Don't miss your chance to give Sparky a hug or a high five! Back-to-School Festival @ Humboldt Park

Where: Humboldt Park - 1400 N. Sacramento Ave., Chicago, IL 60622

What: Sparky and the Chicago Fire Soccer Club will continue their Back-to-School celebrations throughout the afternoon as they make their way to Humboldt Park. Sparky will be there from 1:30 - 3:00 pm to sign autographs and take photos with fans. Go to www.cps.edu for more information.

Danny Cunniff Soccer Classic

Who: Chicago Fire Mascot, Sparky

When: Saturday, August 28; 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Where: Danny Cunniff Park - 3000 Trailway, Highland Park, IL 60035

What: The Danny Cunniff Soccer Classic, in honor of the late Danny Cunniff, is a youth tournament open to boys and girls in age groups U8 - U14. Sparky will be at the event on Saturday, August 28 to cheer on participants.

IYSA Inner City Program "End of Season Bash"

Who: Chicago Fire Player

When: Saturday, August 28; 10:00 - 11:00 AM

Where: Adams Park - 1919 North Seminary Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614

What: The Chicago Fire will be celebrating the IYSA "End Of Season Bash", a special party for the over 300 participants in the Illinois Youth Soccer Inner City Programs that celebrates their hard work and dedication on and off the field throughout the spring and summer. Participants will receive awards and enjoy not only a day of soccer activities, but a special lunch provided by the parents of the participants. Members of the Illinois Olympic Development Program are also part of the event, volunteering to come out and lead special training session and games.

Dog Day on the Green

Who: Chicago Fire Mascot, Sparky

Where: Montrose Harbor - Montrose and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL
