Aerodynamics...

- Tough start... The Aeros lost 5-1 in the first game of an important three-game series with the Harrisburg Senators Friday. The two teams are in the thick of the Western Division wild card race and were tied for third place entering the series. Harrisburg scored first in the top of the fourth inning when Josh Johnson tripled and Jesus Valdez singled him home. The Senators added two more runs in the fifth when first baseman Miguel Perez made a throwing error to the plate in an attempt to force out Jhonathan Solano. Brad Coon also came around to score, pushing Harrisburg's lead to three unanswered runs. Akron answered when left fielder Tim Fedroff ended a potential no-hit bid with a solo home run to center field in the fifth. The Sens added another run in the sixth when Coon recorded an RBI-single that brought home Michael Burgess. Harrisburg tacked on an insurance run in the ninth for the final four-run difference. The Senators' Ryan Tatusko earned his first win of the season, giving up just one run on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks over six innings. Cole Kimball came on in the ninth to earn his sixth save.

- Tar Heeled and feathered... Right-handed starter Alex White (7-7, 2.44 ERA) took the loss in allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks. The former University of North Carolina ace is now 1-3 in his last four starts.

- Aeros Alumni... Cleveland Indian southpaw pitcher Aaron Laffey will make a rehab appearance tonight. Laffey has pitched in 25 games with the Tribe this year with a 4.62 ERA with 28 runs (26 earned) on 57 hits. The Cumberland, Md. native has 27 strikeouts against 28 walks over 50.2 innings of work. In his rehab appearances with Columbus and Lake County, Laffey has a combined ERA of 4.03 in six games with 10 runs on 23 hits with 12 strikeouts and 15 walks over 22.1 innings.

- Red hot bull... Right-handed pitcher Connor Graham came on in relief Friday night and struck out three straight Senators on called third strikes. The Bowling Green, Ohio native went 1.2 perfect innings.

- El Duque... Orlando Hernandez is likely to make an appearance either Saturday or Sunday pitching for the Senators. The high-kicking right-handed pitcher won World Series championships with the New York Yankees in 1998, 1999 and 2000. He added a fourth ring in 2005 as a member of the Chicago White Sox. In four appearances with the Sens, El Duque struck out seven and allowed one run on three hits over six innings. He is the half-brother of Washington Nationals' starter Liván Hernández.

- Stay dry... Today marks the last Super Saver Saturday of the season where fans can take advantage of $7 tickets and $1 specials on hot dogs, draft beer, soft drinks, and popcorn. Fans can also utilize a 10 percent discount at the Infield Outfitters team shop. In addition to all that value, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive an Aeros dry-fit t-shirt courtesy of FirstMerit.
