Mallards to Announce Player Signing on Twitter

MOLINE, Ill. (August 12, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League announced today that the team will announce its next player signing on the Mallards' official Twitter feed- twitter.com/myqcmallards - next Tuesday, August 17 at 3:00 p.m.

The Mallards will tweet clues about the player signed leading up to next Tuesday's announcement. An official press release will follow the announcement of the signing later next Tuesday afternoon. Fans can follow the Mallards' Twitter feed- as well as the team's Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/quadcitymallards)- to not only be the first to receive next Tuesday's news but also to get even closer to the Mallards as the club embarks on its first CHL season.

"This is an exciting and, obviously, new step for us," said Mallards Director of Communications and Broadcasting Brian Lavelle. "Social networking is of great importance to our organization and we will continue to use social networking tools like Twitter to connect and interact with our fans and partners as we close in on our October 16 season opener and as the season progresses."

The player whose signing will be announced next Tuesday will join Obi Aduba, Nick DeCroo, Jason Dolgy, Mark Ehl, Tyler Kindle, Jason Kostadine, Patrik Levesque, Shane Lovdahl, Brandon Marino, Darren McMillan, Omar Pacha and Ryan Palmer to bring the number of players on the Mallards' preseason roster to 13.

The Mallards will play their first CHL game on home ice on Saturday night, October 16, at 7:05 p.m. against the Odessa Jackalopes. Mallards 2010-11 ticket packages are now available to meet any budget or schedule. For more information on ticket packages for the upcoming season, contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364.
