TONIGHT: After a rain-shortened, 6-inning game last night, the RedHawks continue a 4-game set at Colorado Springs in the only series of the year between these teams. OKC took last night's game 5-2, with all the runs produced by homers. Esteban German had a first-inning solo shot, while Brandon Boggs and Kevin Richardson had 2-run blasts in the fourth inning. KIRKMAN NABS SECOND PITCHER OF WEEK AWARD: OKC lefty Michael Kirkman is the PCL Pitcher of the Week for the period ending yesterday, ending Omaha's 3-week dynasty in that award. It's the second such honor for Kirkman, who also received it for the week ending June 13. Last night, Kirkman improved to 12-3 with a series-opening win, allowing a pair of solo homers in 5.2 innings. In 2 starts last week, Kirkman went 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA and dropped his ERA (currently 3.00) to third in the league. The homers allowed by Kirkman were his first since June 25, a span of 6 homerless starts. Kirkman has allowed 7 homers this season, all solo shots.
