July 30, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
The Wichita Thunder added three players to their roster on Wednesday, signing centers Aaron Davis and Matt Hubbauer and re-signing goaltender Ian Keserich.
Davis enters his ninth professional season and his eighth in the CHL. The 31-year old Davis scored 20 goals and totaled 67 points while playing in all 64 games for the Tulsa Oilers last season. Strong on faceoffs, Davis has scored 40 or more points five out of the last seven years, including a career-high 55 with the Austin Ice Bats in 2005-06. The Dearborn Heights, MI native played four years of college hockey at Lake Superior State University. Davis played under Kevin McClelland in 2007-08 with the Mississippi RiverKings.
Hubbauer (pronounced huh-BOW-er) scored 25 goals and had 24 assists in 49 games last season for the EIHL's Sheffield Steelers. The 27-year old played four seasons of Major Juniors with the WHL's Regina Pats, scoring 179 points in 282 games. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Hubbauer played 51 games in the AHL with the St. John's Maple Leafs in 2004-05. Hubbauer totaled 108 points in 118 games during three seasons in Germany from 2006-2009.
Keserich joined the Wichita in a trade with the RiverKings last December. Despite a 1-19-1 mark in 22 games with the Thunder, Keserich posted a .900 save percentage and a 3.71 goals against average. The Parma, OH native led the Thunder to their first ever victory at the INTRUST Bank Arena when he made 27 saves in a 1-0 shutout versus Texas on February 21st. The 24-year old backstop also played under McClelland, and was a teammate of Davis, during his first tour with Mississippi in 2007-08. Keserich played two seasons of college hockey at Ohio State University.
The trio gives the Thunder seven players under contract for the 2010-11 season.
The Thunder opens the 2010-11 season on Friday, October 15th at Tulsa. Wichita's home opener takes place the following night at the INTRUST Bank Arena at 7:05 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now. For more information, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
