Lansing Lugnuts News Release

BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit Snappers (10-13; 47-45) received a two-run homer from Lance Ray and six shutout innings from their bullpen in a 3-1 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts (12-12; 48-45) early Monday afternoon at Pohlman Field.

Beloit starter Tom Stuifbergen only worked three innings, allowing an RBI single to A.J. Jimenez in the last frame to put the Lugnuts on top.

His teammates bailed him out from there.

Ray, drafted in the 8th round out of Kentucky in June, blasted a two-run homer in the fourth against Lugnuts starter Matt Fields (2-4). It was the first baseman's first professional home run.

Clint Dempster (1-0) pitched the fourth through the sixth innings to earn the win, allowing two hits and striking out three. Jhon Garcia followed with two scoreless frames, and Andrei Lobanov struck out a pair in a perfect ninth for his first save.

Kevin Nolan collected three hits for the second straight game in the Lansing loss, doubling twice, scoring the Lugnuts' only run, and improving his batting average to .311.

Lansing receives a day off on Tuesday before returning home to Cooley Law School Stadium on Wednesday to begin a stretch of nine home games in 10 days.

Tickets to all Lugnuts home games are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
