Cowboy Monkey Rodeo Comes to Town This Weekend
July 15, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The most-talked about promotion of the summer is headed to Modern Woodmen Park twice over the weekend, thanks to Zeglin's.
This weekend, fans will have the opportunity to witness, for the first time ever at Modern Woodmen Park, Team Ghost Riders and the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo presented by Zeglin's. The highly anticipated entertainment act will be at Modern Woodmen Park when the Bandits take on the Lake County Captains on Friday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. They will be back for an encore presentation on Sunday, July 18 when the Bandits play host to the Fort Wayne TinCaps, a 5:00 p.m. start.
"We are extremely excited to be able to bring this unique act to our park on two occasions this summer," said team owner Dave Heller. "When you see them, you are sure to understand what all the excitement is all about. For me, there is nothing funnier than watching monkeys dressed up as cowboys, wearing cowboy hats and bandannas, riding dogs and lassoing sheep! This will be one of the best entertainment nights all season long, and something people will remember - and laugh about - for a long, long time."
Team Ghost Riders is led by Tim Lepard, a well known figure among rodeo circles. His career in rodeo began in bull riding which evolved into bullfighting before he began to use his comedy to entertain rodeo fans. He now has a team of four dogs with four cowboy monkey riders as partners that are known for their riding ability and knack for rounding up sheep with speed and ease.
Tim and Team Ghost Riders have been featured on America's Funniest Home Videos, FHM Magazine and Sports Illustrated. They have also appeared on the Jay Leno Show and Steve Harvey's "Big Show."
"Last year it was the Mega-Candy Drop that got people talking and this year Team Ghost Riders and the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo has generated the most excitement," said River Bandits General Manager Kirk Goodman. "They are the funniest entertainment act we will have at the ballpark all season long, which is really saying something with all of the great acts our fans get to enjoy throughout the course of the summer."
Tickets are still available by stopping by or calling the Modern Woodmen Park box office at (563) 3-BANDIT. They can also be purchased and printed online at www.RiverBandits.com.
