Andre Dawson, Darren Daulton and Pepper Johnson to Sign at Upcoming GameJune 22, 2010 - South Atlantic League (SAL) - Lakewood BlueClaws
In addition to Dawson, the BlueClaws announced today that former Phillies catcher Darren Daulton and former Giants linebacker Pepper Johnson will sign autographs at upcoming home games.
Daulton will sign on July 3rd and Johnson on July 9th, and fireworks, presented by Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood, will follow these two games.
"We're very excited to be able to bring these great players to FirstEnergy Park," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "I think our fans will enjoy this immensely and it should be a lot of fun."
Dawson's appearance was originally announced January 6th, the day the Hall of Fame announced that he would be the only player in the Class of 2010. He is one of just three players (joining Willie Mays and Barry Bonds) with over 400 home runs and 300 stolen bases. He also won eight Gold Gloves over a 21 season Major League career with four teams, primarily the Expos and Cubs.
He joins Bob Feller, Steve Carlton Jim Rice and Goose Gossage as Hall of Famers who have signed autographs at a BlueClaws game.
Daulton, who will be at FirstEnergy Park on July 3rd, was a three-time All-Star catcher with the Phillies and was a key member of their 1993 National League Championship Club. He led the National League with 109 RBIs in 1992. The Phillies announced today that Daulton will be inducted into their Wall of Fame later this year.
Johnson, who will be at FirstEnergy Park on July 9th for a short autograph signing, was a linebacker on the 1986 and 1990 New York Giants Super Bowl winners. He starts his 11th season as an assistant coach with the New England Patriots. He has been the defensive line coach since 2004 and has won three Super Bowls as a Patriots assistant.
Each signing will begin with the first pitch of that night's BlueClaws game and the line will form when the gates open at 6 pm. Tickets are available at 732-901-7000 or online at BlueClaws.com. Fans are encouraged to arrive as early as possible.
The Lakewood BlueClaws are in their tenth season of providing family fun and affordable entertainment at the Jersey Shore. They have led the South Atlantic League and New Jersey in attendance in each year of existence.
