Gateway Wins 8-2 to Tie Up Series

(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) - Gateway scored five runs in the 7th inning as the Grizzlies defeated the Evansville Otters 8-2 on Monday night at Bosse Field.
Brandon Peters went 3 for 5 in the game with a home run and B.J. Dial (3-1) pitched six strong innings in the series tying win.
Chris Peters (0-4) also pitched well for the Evansville Otters as the left-hander struck out a season high ten batters on the night.
Brandon Cohen started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single off of B.J. Dail who did not allow another run until his final inning.
Gateway answered back in the third inning when Peters hit an RBI single to tie the game and Jason Patton had the go-ahead RBI single.
Both starting pitchers took over from there as Peters retired eleven batters in a row and Dail set down nine of the next ten.
In the seventh inning, Gateway rallied for five runs. Logan Parker hit a two-run single from Logan Parker as the Grizzlies pulled ahead 7-2.
Nick Walters and David Miller pitched the final three scoreless innings for the Gateway Grizzlies in the victory.
Gateway's record is 16-14 following the win, as the Evansville Otters are now 13-16 overall.
The Evansville Otters and Gateway Grizzlies will meet again tomorrow in the series finale at Bosse Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 PM CST.
