Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators are pleased to announce that shortstop Danny Espinosa has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending June 20th. Espinosa becomes the first position player to win the weekly award for the Sens this year. LHP Chuck James won the pitcher award last Monday.

Espinosa had a great week on the road against New Britain and Bowie. He began the week by hitting a home run in three consecutive games against New Britain (Tuesday, and both games of the doubleheader on Wednesday). The home run on Tuesday was a Grand Slam that gave the Sens a 5-1 lead.

Overall, for the week he went 13 x 29 with four homers, three doubles, 12 RBIs, seven runs scored, four walks, one stolen base, and a .966 slugging percentage over the seven games. The last of his four home runs came on Saturday night and was the final home run of a three home run barrage by the Sens in the 12th inning.

The 6'0", 190 lb. slugger ranked first among all Eastern League players in total bases (28) and extra-base hits (7) last week. He also tied for the most hits (13) and home runs (4) and ranked second in RBI (12) for the week.

He was the Washington Nationals third round selection in the 2008 draft. He entered the season as the Nationals fifth best prospect according to 'Baseball America.'
