Axelrod Promoted to AA Birmingham

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 17, 2010) - The Winston-Salem Dash today announced that RHP Dylan Axelrod has been promoted to AA Birmingham. There is no corresponding roster move at this time.

Axelrod pitched in 12 games for Winston-Salem this season, including two starts. He was 2-1 with a 2.23 ERA at the time of his promotion. The right-hander from Santa Barbara, California was one of the most efficient strike-throwers in the Carolina League this season, racking up 29 strikeouts and just two walks in 32.1 innings pitched. His WHIP (walks & hits per inning pitched) was 0.96, the best mark on the Dash.

Axelrod joined the Chicago organization late last year after signing out of the independent Frontier League. He went 2-1 with a 1.91 ERA in five starts in 2009 for the Dash.

Winston-Salem's roster now stands at 24 players, one below the Carolina League limit.

The Dash finishes its first half home slate tonight against the Frederick Keys. Winston-Salem can clinch a first half Southern Division title with a win tonight and a Salem Red Sox loss. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark.
