GreenJackets, Sand Gnats Square Off in MEGA Series

June 16, 2010 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - This weekend, Lake Olmstead Stadium will host the greatest series ever in the history of professional baseball - the Georgia MEGA Series.

With the Augusta GreenJackets and the Savannah Sand Gnats engaged in a neck-and-neck battle for the first-half championship in the Southern Division, the GreenJackets marketing staff has decided to dub the intrastate four-game set as the MEGA Series, inspired by the Will Ferrell comedy Semi-Pro.

GreenJackets General Manager and Chief Promoter Nick Brown has high hopes for the series that will decide the division crown in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.

"This is history in the making," Brown said. "You will want to tell your grandkids and their grandkids and their grandkids and when they look in the annals of history people are going to be talking about three things: the discovery of fire, invention of the submarine, and the Augusta, Georgia Mega Series."

In true Jackie Moon fashion, should the GreenJackets capture the first half crown - whichever game that may be - everyone in attendance will receive a free corndog. So far this year Augusta has an overall record of 8-4 against the Gnats.

Below is a listing of ballpark activities and promotions for the upcoming homestand:
