Syracuse Mets News Release

The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce that award-winning sportswriter and popular television sports commentator Bert Sugar will be on hand for the team's game against the Louisville Bats on Thursday, June 10.

Sugar will sign copies of his new book "Bert Sugar's Baseball Hall of Fame", which will be available for fans to purchase for $35 each. The book celebrates the Hall of Fame's 70th anniversary while also covering topics such as baseball's effort to break the color barrier, the emergence of night baseball, and dynasties.

The native of Chappaqua, NY has written more than 50 books, mostly on baseball and boxing. He has appeared countless times on ESPN, Showtime, and HBO, and has appeared as himself in many films and TV shows, including Night and the City, The Great White Hype, Arli$$, and more.

"We are very excited to welcome a sportswriter of the stature of Bert Sugar to our ballpark," said Chiefs General Manager John Simone. "I'm sure our fans will very much enjoy talking baseball with him."

Prior to greeting fans and signing the book during the game's early innings, Sugar will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the Chiefs and Bats taking the field for the 7:00pm contest.

Tickets for all Syracuse Chiefs home games are on sale now and can be purchased in person at the team's ticket office at Alliance Bank Stadium, by calling 315-474-7833, or online at Syracuse Chiefs.com.
