Royals Select Contract Of Infielder Wilson Betemit From Omaha

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 25, 2010) - The Kansas City Royals have selected the contract of infielder Wilson Betemit from Triple-A Omaha. Betemit will be in uniform for tonight's game, wearing number 46. To create room on the 25-man roster, the Royals optioned right-handed pitcher Bryan Bullington to Omaha. The Royals now have 40 players on the Major League 40-man roster.
The 28-year old Betemit was hitting .265 (30-for-113) for Omaha with six doubles, two triples, two home runs and 17 RBI in 29 games. The switch hitter had appeared at first base, third base and shortstop for Omaha. The 6-foot-2 Betemit is a career .258 hitter with 42 home runs and 154 RBI in 516 Major League games from 2001-2009 for the Braves, Dodgers, Yankees and White Sox.
Bullington, 29, was 0-1 with a 12.00 ERA in three relief appearances for the Royals since having his contract selected on May 16.
